what is new?

01 Mar 2008 MARCH 2, 2008

Oh, guys, I'm so excited! Boyd oh Boyd and Essentially Billy were mentioned on yesterday's XFM show!

Danny Wallace: Listen, you've got fans, yeah, I've been cruising the interwebs, you know, things like Boyd oh Boyd dot net, which boasts the only half British, half Czech Billy Boyd Fan site.
Billy: I may be checking that one out, I haven't seen it.
DW: And Essentially Billy - have you seen that one?
BB: Essentially Billy? No...
DW: Ah come on, you must have seen these!
BB: There's one, there's one website on my groin, which is a favourite of mine, I can't remember what it's called, but it..
DW: A website on your groin?
BB: Yeah, basically.
DW: Let's have a look...
(pause while they look it up on D's laptop)
RG: Absolutely magnificent!
DW: I can see how that would be appreciated.
BB: I don't know if it's worth a whole website.
DW: Do you think this is too much? I don't know [missed bit] i'm putting this to you: do you think that 8000 pictures of you on a website is a bit too much?
BB:Well, that one's my own website!
DW: (Laughs)

You can listen to the whole show here. Just click on "listen again" and choose "Last 7 Days: Danny Wallace". I'm just listening to it :)

EDIT
Billy appears after two hours from the beginning. None of our questions mentioned :(

Flat Has A Dark Past
INTELLIGENT and, at times, very funny dialogue which is rich with literary and film references. And, as a bonus, no canned laughter

Although this is an article about Dominic Monaghan, there is a little mention about Billy and Beecake, too :)
LOST STAR GETS LEAD ROLE:

Meanwhile, it has emerged that Dominic provided the inspiration for the name of fellow LORD OF THE RINGS actor BILLY BOYD's band.

Boyd, best known for his role as Pippin in the fantasy films, changed the band's name to BEECAKE after Monaghan sent him a picture of a cake covered in bees that he had seen when holidaying in Spain, reports the Inverness Courier.

FRESHMAN GUITARS
Billy has evidently become an endorsee of their products. here's the link with pretty new pics :)

MATCHSTALK MAN
Wow, it seems that Billy will be making another movie!
Matchstalk Man - the official site
Invest £5,000 and win London film audition (the link doesn't work, I have no idea why):

Investors willing to stump up at least 5,000 will get the chance to audition for a speaking part in a trilogy of films set in London.

A trilogy of films set and filmed in London will have at least one new face among a cast including Neve Campbell and Kelly Reilly.

Any investor willing to stump up at least £5,000 will get the chance to audition for a speaking part in one of them.

Quicksilver Films is looking to raise £2 million of a total £2.4 million budget for the three scripts.

Matchstalk Men, based on a play by Mark Underwood, is a pyromaniac thriller. It has Campbell, star of Scream, Reilly from Mrs Henderson Presents, Leo Gregory, of Stoned and Green Street, and Billy Boyd, from Lord Of The Rings, attached to appear.

The other two films on the slate are The Last Olympian, a futuristic thriller set in 2054, and No Reason, a psychological study of a London office worker.

The projects have been brought together by Rebecca Long, a Rada and King's College graduate; Lance Roehrig, an assistant director, whose work includes Mr Bean's Holiday and Hotel Rwanda; Alexander Holt, a director in film and theatre, and Underwood himself.

Long said: "We figured there must be a lot of small investors out there who would love the opportunity to act in a movie."

BEECAKE
John Crawford, the drummer, posted yesterday this entry about Grand Ole Opry Gig:

Just arrived home in the wind and rain...however had a great night playing with my bestest pals...we seemed to laugh more tonight on stage than played music.I had a great time.B.J couldn't stop smiling through the whole gig.Great to see everyone who attended...you do scrub up well...hope you liked the adlib at the end on Soul Swimming...a little twist to the original song...very laid back and a wee bit sexy.

The other performers/bands were great too very nice people,a pleasure to meet some new friends from L.A. & San Diego...and Chargers fans...nice!

I am dissapionted about the Ironworks gig cancellation in Inverness as we loved playing there in December, great venue and we were looking forward to the trip and the gig.Im sure we will make it up there again.

Another gig for Beecake and another great week on the myspace charts...the number of plays are truly amazing.

Keep listening...Go on...dive too deep...its fun !

John

SHOE ON YOUR FOOT
Or "C'est toujours mieux quand on sourit sur la photo" if you prefer the French name :) Renate from Vienna sent me the translation of the article I posted a few days ago. Thanks :)

26 year old Chloé lives alone in Paris, between a proactive neighbourgh, a fussy colleague and a scholarly DVD lender. A life which does not exactly meet her expectations.

Jack, a thirtyish American dumped by his girlfriend, wins a journey to Paris.

Chloé coincidentally gets Jack’s suitcase which he inherited from his father and on which he set his heart. And she falls in love with the contents.

Chloé loves Jack though she never met him and though she knows nothing about him. She is convinced that he’s the man of her life and that they are made for each other, and she will do everything to find him again…
